      William Gray served in the USAF Ferrying Command during WW II. Lt. Gray was declared missing following a forced crash landing of his plane off the African coast. He was an Air Transport Command pilot. He was the first Platte County man in the Armed Forces to die during WW II. He is buried at sea.
