Selma H. Loseke Gaver, 100 of Porterville, California died Wednesday, February 8, 2006 in Porterville.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 13th at 10:30 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Visalia, California. A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 17 at 1:00 PM in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus, Nebraska with Rev. Robert Wobrock officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to either Grace Lutheran Church in Visalia, California or Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus, Nebraska.
Selma Gaver was born December 9, 1905, in rural Platte County, Nebraska to Fritz and Mina (Ahrens) Loseke. She was baptized at Christ Lutheran Church on January 16, 1905, and confirmed there on May 16, 1920. In 1925 she graduated from Columbus High School and was also a 1928 graduate of Wise Memorial Hospital Training School of Nurses.
Selma married Elmer "Smokey" Gaver on January 1, 1930. They lived in Columbus all their married life. He preceded in in death in 1982. Selma enjoyed gardening, quilting and sport events. As a humble servant of the Lord, she was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Sewing Circle. Selma was a devoted mother and grandmother with a positive and thankful spirit.

Daughter - Corinne (Rev. Bob Wobrock) of Springville, CA
Daughter - Gretchen (Larry) Shults) of Midland, TX
Son-in-law - Gene Fidel of Camarillo, CA
14 Grandchildren
22 Great-Grandchildren
Sister-in-law - Maxine Walton of CO
Sister-in-law - Bette Gaver of Columbus, NE
Numerous nieces and nephews
