COLUMBUS -- Grant T. Grotelueschen, 41, of Columbus died Friday, Nov. 22, 1996, from injuries suffered in a car accident near Elkhorn.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Christ Lutheran Church in rural Columbus with the Rev. Dr. Carl Lilienkamp officiating. Burial is at the parish cemetery.
Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Gass-Haney Funeral Chapel of Columbus and 10 a.m. until services Tuesday with a 10:30 a.. family prayer service at the church.
Mr. Grotelueschen was born Dec. 7, 1954, in Columbus to Harold and Dorothy (Dirks) Grotelueschen. He attended Christ Lutheran School and was a 1973 graduate of Lakeview High School. He also attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
He married Jennifer Jo Luchsinger July 26, 1974, in Columbus, where they farmed. He was a member of the Lakeview School Board, where he served as president; Platte County Farm Bureau, serving as county board president and on state and local committees; the board of Platte Center Co-op, Pla-Co Pork Producers and Columbus Community Hospital Inc.
He was a 4-H leader for more than 10 years, president of Lakeview FFA Alumni and a Platte County Fair superintendent.
He was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church, where he was a choir member and sang in the men's quartet. He also served as trustee, Sunday school teacher, school board president and was a member of the Finance Committee.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jenna and Julie; two sons, Jason and Justin, both of Lincoln; his mother of Columbus, five sisters, Karen Bauder and Jean Schmidt, both of Chicago, Suzanne Bryson of Denver; Gaye Nelson of York and Faith Meinzen of Mahomet, Ill.; and one brother, Ralph of East Moline, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his father an an infant brother. Memorials may be given to the Lakeview Education Foundation, Camp Luther or Christ Lutheran organ renovation. [ColfaxDeutschlandPlatte.FBK.FTW]
