      From THE COLUMBUS (NE.) TELEGRAM, February 15, 2003-

      Elaine M. Sprague, 80, of Columbus died Tuesday, February 11, 2003 at
      Columbus Community Hospital. Memorial services are 10:30 am Saturday,
      February 15, 2003 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus with the Rev.
      Roland Jank officiating. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 am
      Saturday, also at the church. Interment will be in the O'Neill Cemetery.
      Memorials may be made to the family wishes.

      Elaine M. Sprague was born June 23, 1922 in rural Colfax County to Emil and
      Augusta (Kroeger) Hoff. She grew up in rural Leigh and graduated from Leigh
      High School in 1940.

      She married Laurin W. Hespe on May 29, 1941 in rural
      Schuyler. He died in April of 1975. Elaine married Otto Sprague on October
      14, 1977 in O'Neill. Otto passed away in May of 1989.

      Elaine lived and worked at the Tilden, NE motel, several years at BD's in Columbus, as a
      dietician at Valley Hope in O'Neill, and worked for a short time at Dale's
      in Norfolk. Elaine lived in several locations throughout her life including
      New Hampshire, Texas, Lynch, NE, Butte, NE, and Battle Creek, NE. Elaine was
      a volunteer at the Columbus Senior Center, member of Immanuel Lutheran
      Church, Immanuel Country Ladies Aid, Bible study group, and was past
      president of the Heritage House Club.

      She is survived by:

      Son Terry Hespe of Chichester, NH
      Step-Son David Sprague of Dallas, TX
      Brother Gordon Hoff of Keenesburg, CO
      Brother Duane Hoff Columbus, NE
      Brother Malvern "Whitey" Hoff of Spearfish, SD
      Sister Donna Olson of Columbus, NE
      Sister Shirley Micek of Lincoln, NE
      Brother Ken Hoff of Denver, CO
      Four Grandchildren
