From THE COLUMBUS (NE.) TELEGRAM, May 3, 2004-
COLUMBUS - Donna R. Olson, 68, of Columbus, formerly of Leigh, died Thursday, April 29, 2004, at Columbus Community Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in Leigh with the Rev. Terry Timm officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Visitation is 3-7 p.m. today at the church and continues there Monday from 9 a.m. until time of service, with a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m.
Mrs. Olson was born Feb. 8, 1936, in Leigh to Emil and Agusta (Kroeger) Hoff. She graduated from Leigh High School.
On Feb. 19, 1955, she married Arnold C. "Arnie" Olson at Leigh. They lived in Edinburgh, Scotland, for three years and then moved to Lincoln where she attended beauty school and worked at the Russell Stover candy factory. The couple moved to Leigh where she taught rural schools for two years and operated Donna's Beauty Shop for many years. The couple operated Olson Welding and Repair in Leigh and later, Olson Machine and Welding in Columbus.
She also worked at Rozanek Funeral Home and Kucera/Kracl Funeral Home of Leigh for several years.
She was a member of the church, the ladies aid and the Leigh Community Club. She moved to Columbus in 2001.
Survivors include three sons, Andy (Laurie) Olson of Grand Junction, Colo., Scott Olson of Columbus and Craig (Cheryl) Olson of Omaha; her mother-in-law, Sylvia Olson of Columbus; three brothers, Duane (Doris) Hoff and Mel "Whitey" Hoff, both of Columbus, and Ken Hoff of Denver; two sisters, Shirley (Bill) Micek of Lincoln Gordon (Marlene) Hoff of Keenesburg, Colo.; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1999; her parents; and infant brother, Donald Hoff; and a sister, Elaine Hespe Sprague.
