Melvin A. Grotelueschen, 2671 33rd Avenue, died Sunday in Behlen Community Hospital at the age of 55. A lifetime resident of the Columbus area, he was a cabinet maker and World War II veteran.
The funeral will be Tuesday, 3:15 p.m. family prayer service ad 3:30 p.m. funeral rites at Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. Otto Schlegelmilch officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
The body will lie in state at Gass-Haney Funeral Home 5-9 p.m. today and until 2 p.m. Tuesday; 2:30-3:30 p.m. at church.
Son of Ernst A. and Hilda (Mueller) Grotelueschen, he was born Feb. 2, 1920 in Platte County; attended St. John Lutheran School north of Columbus and served in the Army, 1941-45. He married Margaret Raabe, June 29, 1945 at St. John Lutheran Church, Beemer.
A charter member of Peace Lutheran Church, he participated in many church activities. He was a former member of Chamber of Commerce.
Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Kathleen of Milwaukee, Wis.; Mrs. Steven (Beth) Slonecker and and Kay of Columbus; one son, James of Gig Harbor, Wash.; mother, Mrs. Hilda Grotelueschen of Lake Worth, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Alvin (Lola) Bargmann and Mrs. Darleen Mihulka, both of Denver, Colo.; one brother, Dr. Arden of Urbana, Ill.; grandmother, Mrs. F.H. Mueller of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his father; brothers, Norbert, Marlin, Elroy and another in infancy. [ColfaxDeutschlandPlatte.FBK.FTW]
