      Ellen Johannes, 101 of Columbus, Nebraska died Thursday, January 20, 2005 at Morys Haven in Columbus.

      The funeral service will be on Monday, January 24 at 10:30 AM at Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus with Rev.'s Michael Klatt and Ernest Smith officiating. Interment is in Christ Lutheran Cemetery, rural Platte County, Nebraska. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Monday from 9:30 until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service on Monday at 10:15 AM at the church. Memorials are suggested to Peace Lutheran Church or the donor's choice.

      Ellen was born August 31, 1903 in rural Platte County, Nebraska to John and Anna (Wurdeman) Johannes. She was baptized at Christ Lutheran Church and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Leigh. She attended Leigh schools. Ellen worked at the Mead Ordinance Plant in Mead, Nebraska during World War II. In 1948 she moved back to Leigh where she worked in several stores. In 1960 she moved to Columbus and worked at Dale Electronics for 14 years. She then worked at the Columbus Manor for 10 years.

      Ellen was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church and had been a member of the Christian Fun and Fellowship Club. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, tatting, playing cards, and taking care of her rose garden.

      Sister - Irene Rickert of Columbus, NE
      Sister-in-law - Pearl Johannes of Columbus, NE
      Brother-in-law - Rheao Timblin of Lincoln, NE
