      From THE COLUMBUS (NE.) TELEGRAM, February 16, 2009-

      LINCOLN -- Sharon K. Franks, 62, of Lincoln, died Feb. 12, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer.

      She was born on Nov. 14, 1946, to Helmuth & Lietha (Hunteman) Hake in Columbus.

      She attended Christ Lutheran Grade School, Columbus Junior & Senior High School, graduating in 1965. She attended the University of Nebraska.

      She married Jerry A. Franks on April 17, 1971. Sharon worked at the University of Nebraska Computing Services Network for 40 years. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading, embroidery, sports and playing cards with friends.

      Survivors include a son, Matt and Christine Franks of Lincoln; grandchildren, Sarah, Allison, Brayden and Aubrey Franks of Lincoln; her parents of Columbus; a brother, Dale and Carol Hake of Norfolk; sisters, Pam and Lynn Nitz, Marcia Schlender, Doreen Morinelli, LeAnne Hake all of Columbus, Denise and Tim Grein of Walthill; 14 nieces and nephews; 22 great-nieces and nephews.

      Sharon was preceded in death by her grandparents; Emil and Rosa Hake, Emil and Marie Hunteman.

      Interment will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17 in Wyuka Cemetery. Those attending the committal are kindly asked to gather inside the gates at the O Street entrance prior to 10 a.m.

      A Memorial Service will follow at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 4325 Sumner St., Lincoln. Pastor Jeffrey Schleich will officiate.

      Memorials are suggested to the Big Brothers/Big Sisters, American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association.

      Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home of Lincoln is in charge of arrangements.
