Annie had a crippled left arm and it may have been shorter than the right arm.

Her oldest brother, Will Ehlers related that he and his brothers helped the neighbors who had flu. They never became sick but Annie did.

From THE LEIGH WORLD; January 31,1919-
The Angel of Death entered the home of Mr. and Mrs. Claus Ehlers last Sunday afternoon and removed from this life the spirit of Anna Katherina, their second eldest daughter. The young lady succumbed to the prevailing epidemic of influenza.
The funeral services were conducted on Tuesday afternoon at the Goodge Undertaking Parlors, Rev. Koolen conducting the services. Interment was made in the St Paul's churchyard cemetery.
