      From THE COLUMBUS (NE.) TELEGRAM, September 26, 2003-

      Clarence R. Cattau, 89, of Creston, Nebraska died Tuesday, September 23, 2003 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, Nebraska .

      Services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, rural Columbus, Nebraska on Saturday, September 27, 2003 at 10:30 AM with Rev. John E. Nelson, Jr. officiating. Interment will be at the Christ Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Friday, from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM and at Christ Lutheran Church on Saturday, from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM. There will be a family prayer service on Saturday at 10:15 AM at the church.

      Clarence R. Cattau was born February 2, 1914 in rural Leigh, Nebraska to Louis and Sophia (Robert) Cattau. He attended Platte County District #46 school and Christ Lutheran School. He married Rose Otte on March 14, 1943 at Christ Lutheran Church. Clarence was a life long Platte County farmer and operated a road maintainer in several townships for 47 years. He loved horses, music, and playing accordion and drums with a local group for 10 years. He was one of the last farmers to use horses to do his farm work with. Clarence was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.
