From THE COLUMBUS (NE.) TELEGRAM, January 21, 2003-
COLUMBUS - Helen W. Dasenbrock, 93, of Columbus, died Saturday, Jan. 18,
2003, at Morys Haven Nursing Home in Columbus.
Services are 10:30 a. m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus with
the Rev. Timothy White officiating. Grave side services will be 2 p.m. Friday
at Leigh Cemetery in Leigh.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Svoboda Funeral Home South Chapel in
Schuyler and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
Mrs. Dasenbrock was born June 18, 1909, in rural Leigh to Henry W. and
Elizabeth (Wieboldt) Callies. She graduated from Leigh High School in 1926.
She was a school teacher until she got married.
She married Herbert H. Dasenbrock on Aug. 8, 1930, at Leigh. She was then a
farm wife as they farmed in the Creston area. They moved to Columbus in
1957. She worked at a variety of jobs in Columbus over the years. Her last
job was hostess/cashier at Kings Food Host.
She was a member of the church and the Country Club Extension Club from
Creston.
She enjoyed bird watching and growing flowers in her garden. She had a love
for poetry.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeanne E. Went of Columbus and Ann (James)
Podraza of Walnut, Iowa; two sons, Wilbur "Bud" (Betty) Dasenbrock of
Lincoln and Richard (Barbara) Dasenbrock of Omaha; 15 grandchildren and 28
great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pearl Ehlers and Lola Hake of Leigh; one
sister-in-law, Ruth Callies of Leigh.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993; one grandson; one
great-granddaughter; four brothers and two sisters.
Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran church or Alzheimer's
Association in memory of Herbert.
