Caecelia Cattau, 92, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Thursday, February 12, 2009, at the Countryside Home in Madison, Nebraska.
The funeral service will be Monday, February 16, 10:30 A.M. at Christ Lutheran Church with Revs. Michael Klatt and Ernest Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 - 6:00 P.M. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Monday from 9:30 - 10:30 A.M. at the church with family prayer service at 10:15 A.M. Memorials are the donors choice.
Caecelia was born February 7, 1917, to John Emil and Wilhelmina (Muth) Wilke in Columbus, Nebraska. She was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church. Caecelia attended school at District #2 and Christ Lutheran. On September 8, 1937, she was united in marriage to Elmer Cattau at Christ Lutheran Church. Caecelia was a homemaker on their farm northeast of Columbus where they lived until moving to Loveland, Colorado, in 1973. She later moved back to Columbus after Elmer passed away in 1983.
Caecelia enjoyed traveling, playing cards, sewing, gardening, and doing volunteer work at the Columbus Hospital. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church for most of her life and later a member of Peace Lutheran Church where she was a member of the women's guild.
