COLUMBUS -- Martin Wennekamp, 84, of Columbus, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at Beverly Healthcare in Columbus.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus with the Revs. Richard Bringewatt and Roland A. Jank officiating. Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. Paul's Cemetery in Leigh.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at the church. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. Friday at the church.
Mr. Wennekamp was born Feb. 20, 1917, in Creston to George and Frieda (Wendt) Wennekamp. He attended schools in Platte County.
He married Elsie (Korte) Sieh on June 1, 1963, in Columbus. He was a farmer and livestock feeder in the Bismarck township.
He was a member of the church where he served on various boards and sang in the choir for many years. He was a member of the Lutheran Layman's League. He also sang in the Columbus Apollo Club.
He served as a Platte County Supervisor from 1982-1994. He was a board member of Consumers Co-op of Columbus and also of the Platte County Feeders Association. He was a committee member of the Platte County Farmers Home Administration.
Survivors include his wife of Columbus; three sons, David (Linda) Sieh of San Diego, Donald Sieh and Darwin (Yvonne) Sieh, all of Columbus; three brothers, Albert Wennekamp of Long Beach, Calif., Clemens Wennekamp and Melvin (Margaret) Wennekamp, all of Columbus; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Irwin Wennekamp, Arthur Wennekamp, Reinhold Wennekamp and Herman Wennekamp; two sisters, Elsie Wendt and Pauline Wennekamp; one son, Daryl Sieh and one granddaughter.
Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
