LEIGH - Helen A. Hekrdle, 82, of Leigh, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Norfolk.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Leigh, with the Rev. Theresa Meyers officiating. Burial is at Leigh Cemetery. Visitation is from 5:30-8 p.m. today at Leigh Memorial Funeral Chapel and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Mrs. Hekrdle was born Feb. 24, 1922, in rural Leigh, to John and Augusta (Ehlers) Paulsen. She attended rural Leigh schools.
She married William Hekrdle Feb. 6, 1950, in Leigh. They farmed north of Leigh. For the past 15 years, she made her home with her daughter in Omaha. In May, she became a resident of St. Joseph's Nursing Home. She enjoyed baking and sewing.
Survivors include three daughters, Donna (Dwight) Hargrove of Omaha, Debbie (Terry) Dvorak of Norfolk and Dorrine Hekrdle of Leigh; two brothers, Arnold (Betty) Paulsen of Seattle and John (Dorothy) Paulsen of Stanton; three sisters, Irene (Kenneth) Christensen of Pierce, Betty (Raymond) Wolsleger of Norfolk and Nadine (Kenneth) Magsamen of Leigh; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband in October of 1978 and one infant sister, Irma.
