      From THE GASS HANEY FUNERAL HOME ARCHIVES-

      Marvin Norman Marty, 78 of Leigh, Nebraska, died March 27, 2007 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha as a result of an auto accident in Columbus.

      Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 31 at 10:30 AM at Christ Lutheran Church, rural Columbus, with Rev. John E. Nelson, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Saturday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service on Saturday at 10:15 AM at the church. Memorials are suggested to Christ Lutheran Church, the Columbus Community Hospital Foundation or the family choice.

      Marvin N. Marty was born March 21, 1929, in rural Platte County, Nebraska, to Gottfried and Eleanor (Lindeman) Marty. He was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church. He attended Christ Lutheran Grade School. Marvin was united in marriage to Marlene Wacha on November 24, 1957, at Christ Lutheran Church. He was engaged in farming his entire life raising livestock and grain. Marvin was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church where he was on the School Board, Trustee, Finance Committee, Evangelism Committee, and Voter's Assembly. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and visiting with the neighbors.
