Services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church rural Columbus, Nebraska on Monday, October 22, 2001 at 10:30 AM with Rev. John E. Nelson, Jr. officiating. Interment will be at Christ Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Sunday, October 21, 2001 from 3:00 PM- 8:00 PM and at Christ Lutheran Church on Monday, October 22, 2001 from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 AM Monday at the church. Birdella Wurdeman was born July 7, 1919 in rural Platte County, Nebraska to Arthur and Birdie (Pilling) Ahrens. She graduated from Kramer High School in 1935 and attended Wayne State College. Birdella married Edward Wurdeman on December 12, 1941 at Christ Lutheran Church, rural Columbus, Nebraska. She taught at schools in rural Platte County and then worked at Nebraska Public Power Company until retirement. After retiring she worked part-time at Loup Public Power Company. She lived all of her life in Platte County. Birdella was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Christ Lutheran Ladies Aid, LWML, Lutheran Layman's League and she had been a Sunday school superintendent for 30 years at the church.
