Emma Sophia Kaufman, 90, of Columbus died Wednesday at Columbus Community Hospital after an illness of four years.
Services were 2 p.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. M.W. Goldhammer officiating.
Mrs. Kaufman, daughter of John and Rosalie (Lueke) Lusche, was born March 26, 1891 in Colfax County and attended Columbus High School. She was married to John T. (Ted) Kaufman Oct. 26, 1912 in Columbus.
A lifetime resident of the Columbus area, she taught at District 10 School and did Braille work with the blind for many years. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Immanuel City Ladies Aid and Chapter CH, P.E.O.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Gilbert (Rose) Asche of Columbus; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.T. (Ted) Kaufman; son, J. Theodore Kaufman, Jr., grandson, John Edward Asche; parents; two brothers and one sister. [ColfaxDeutschlandPlatte.FBK.FTW]
