KEARNEY - Ella E. Pavel, 85, of Kearney, formerly of Clarkson, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004, at St. Luke's Good Samaritan Village in Kearney.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at New Zion Presbyterian Church in Clarkson, with the Rev. Earl F. Underwood, Jr. officiating. Burial is at Clarkson National Cemetery. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, with a 4 p.m. Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary service, at Miller Funeral Home in Clarkson and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Mrs. Pavel was born June 26, 1919, in Colfax County, to Oscar and Pauline (Cattau) Loseke. She attended Rural District 41 in Colfax County and Christ Lutheran School in Columbus.
She married John Louis Pavel Sept. 3, 1940, in Fremont. They lived in Omaha for a short time before moving to Clarkson in 1941. In 1942, they moved to North Bend and then northwest of Schuyler, where they farmed. They then farmed north of Dodge and later north of Clarkson. In the 1960s, they farmed near Hooper and then purchased a gas station in Winslow, which they operated until 1972. She worked at the Clarkson Bakery until retiring in 1990. In 1995, she moved to North Platte. She moved to Kearney in 1998. She had lived at St. Luke's Good Samaritan Village in Kearney for three years.
She was a member of the church, Ruth Circle, was a past church Elder and choir member, and VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include two sons, Adolph "John" (Linde) Pavel of Irving, Texas, and Norman (Rosella) Pavel of Kearney; one brother, Norman Loseke of Columbus; two sisters, Esther (Verdell) Moeller of Oakland and Frieda Veirs of Oldtown, Fla.; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband May 4, 1984.
Memorials are suggested to New Zion Presbyterian Church in Clarkson or Clarkson Opera House.
