Kurpgeweit, 56, who died suddenly Saturday afternoon at his home southeast of Creston, were conducted at 2 p.m. today at St. Paul Lutheran church southwest of Leigh. The Rev. W. F. V. Churchill officiated, with burial in St. Paul cemetery. Pallbearers were six nephews: Lavern Brock, Willard Maas, Eldon Groninger, Harold Cloeter, Eugene Kurpgeweit, and Lowell Brock. Honorary pallbearers were Ted Koch, Robert Iverson, Charles Grotelueschen, Fritz Hillen, Harold McMullin, Baltz Jenny, Reinhold Engelbart, and Fritz Hollman. He was born Oct. 28, 1906, in Madison county, a son of Carl and Ida Hensseleit Kurpgeweit, and was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran church at Battle Creek. On Sept. 24, 1930, Mr. Kurpgeweit was married to Clara A. Brock at St. Paul Lutheran church, Leigh. A resident of Platte county since 1930, Mr. Kurpgeweit farmed for a time near Platte Center. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran church, and served on the school board of Dist. 43, Platte county. Surviving are his wife; two sons Marvin O. of Leigh and Dale A. at home; one daughter, Mrs. Frank (Verna) Fischer, Stanton; four grandchildren; one brother, Herbert, of Ewing; and one sister, Mrs. Harry (Selma) Fry of Lincoln.
