LEIGH - Harvey D. Koch, 81, of Creston died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, at Columbus Community Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in rural Leigh with the Rev. Kristi Rockswold officiating. Burial is at Fairview Cemetery in Creston.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Thursday at Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at the church. A family prayer service is 10:15 a.m. Friday at the church.
Mr. Koch was born April 7, 1919, in rural Creston to Henry W. and Jennie M. (Bruen) Koch. He attended District 45 School.
He married Avis L. Pimpara on June 9, 1938, in Creston. He was a farmer and lived all of his life on the family farm south of Creston. He was a member of the church, Coyote Hunters, Creston Gun Club, Leigh Saddle Club and a past member of the District 45 School Board. He served on the Election Board for the Creston Township and was a former member of the Lion's Club in Creston. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Lonny Koch of Lincoln, Dave (Fern) Koch of Leigh, Jody (Debi) Koch of Columbus and Monty (Carolyn) Koch of Creston; five daughters, Klao Hughes of LaVista, Vicki (George) Ternus of Creston, Melanie (Jim) Arlt of Lindsay, Rhonda (Randy) Kleensang of Hoskins and Wendy (Dale) Rahtz of Leigh; one sister, Evelyn Kumpf of Omaha; 22 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Melvin, David, Vernon and Raymond Koch; and sister, Lydia Loseke.
