      Hugo W. Inselman, 88, of Leigh, Nebraska, died Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at the Beverly Healthcare in Columbus, Nebraska.

      The funeral service will be Monday, January 3, 2005, 10:00 A.M. at the Christ Lutheran Church in rural Columbus with Rev. John E. Nelson Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3:00 - 7:00 P.M. at Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Monday from 9:00 - 10:00 A.M. at the church with a family prayer service at 9:45 A.M.

      Hugo W. Inselman was born January 31, 1916 in rural Creston, Nebraska to Herman & Minnie (Hellbusch) Inselman. Hugo attended St. John's Lutheran School in rural Platte County. On September 1, 1940, Hugo married Edna Otte at Christ Lutheran Church. They farmed in the Creston and Leigh areas all their lives. Hugo was a baseball pitcher for the St. John's baseball team and spent many years coaching baseball and softball in Leigh. Hugo also enjoyed pitching horseshoes. He was a former trustee at Christ Lutheran Church and formerly belonged to the Walther League at St. John's Church.
