      From THE COLUMBUS (NE.) DAILY TELEGRAM, October 27, 1961, pg. 5, col. 2-

      Mrs. William Becher, 66, of 2169 24th avenue, died about 3:30 a.m. today in the Lutheran hospital following a short illness.

      Funeral services will be held Monday, 9:45 a.m. at the Gass Funeral chapel and 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran church, north of Columbu

      The Rev. George Schubarth will officiate and burial will be in St. John's cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Gass chapel after 11 a.m. Sunday.

      A lifetime resident of Platte county, Mrs. Becher was born June 15, 1895 in Grand Prairie township. She was the former Emma Helen Grotelueschen, daughter of William and Margaret Boe Grotelueschen.

      She was baptized and confirmed in St. John's Lutheran church, of which she was a lifetime member, and received her education in St. John's parochial school.

      On June 15, 1915 she was married to William Becher at St. John's church. They farmed in Grand Prairie township until retiring to Columbus in 195

      Survivors include her husband; son, Allen, and daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Esther) Marty, both of Columbus; four grandchildren, Charlene, Darrell, Duane and Sharon Becher; one brother, Enno Grotelueschen of Columbus; a half-sister, Mrs. Minnie Inselman of Columbus; two half brothers, Herman Hellbusch of Columbus and Otto Hellbusch of Norfolk.

      A son, LaVern, died June 22, 1952 in Korea while serving in the Marine Corps. Also preceding her in death were three brothers, Ernst, William and Paul Grotelueschen; two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Mueller and Mrs. Olga Cordes; and a half-sister, Mrs. Mathilda Meinke.
