PEORIA, Ariz. - Mildred Daniels, 80, of Peoria, Ariz., formerly of Leigh,
died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at her home in Peoria.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church in Leigh with the
Rev. Paul Rowoldt officiating. Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery at
Leigh.
Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. today at the Leigh Memorial Funeral Chapel and
continue from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Daniels was born Feb. 25, 1922, to Emil and Louisa (Dasenbrock) Brauner
in rural Creston. She attended Boheet School District 46, District 20 and
was a 1941 graduate of Creston High School.
She married Leo Daniels on June 30, 1943, at rural Leigh. She was employed
by the ASCS office in Columbus after graduation and then by the Bank of
Leigh for 30 years. She also worked at the Hanel Oil Company. She and her
husband spent their entire married life in the community of Leigh until 10
months ago when they moved to Peoria in the Phoenix area.
She was a longtime member of the church and served as the church secretary
for 15 years. She belonged to the church Ladies' Aid and sewing circle for
over 50 years.
Her hobbies were sewing and gardening. She enjoyed raising flowers and was
well known for her beautiful iris. She and her husband were recipients of
the Ak-Sar-Ben Good Neighbor Award.
Survivors include her husband of Peoria, Ariz.; three sons, Leland E.
(Linda) Daniels of Prairie Village, Kan., Gene F. (Maria) Daniels of
Carefree, Ariz., and Robert L. (Larrie) Daniels of Lincoln; four
grandchildren; two sisters, Elva Hawes of Omaha and Lois Rayman of Longmont,
Colo., and one brother, Ladean Brauner of Creston.
