Marvin Wurdeman, 78, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Thursday, March 13, 2008, at the Golden Living Center of Columbus.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, March 18, 10:30 A.M. at the Christ Lutheran Church with Rev. John E. Nelson, Jr. and Vicar Brian McQuiggin officiating. Interment will be in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Tuesday from 9:30 - 10:30 A.M. at the church with a family prayer service at 10:15 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Christ Lutheran School Building Fund or the Alzheimer's Association at 5601 S. 27th St., Suite 201, Lincoln, Nebraska, 68512.
Marvin was born March 5, 1930, in rural Platte County, Nebraska, to Julius and Ella (Reick) Wurdeman. He was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church where he was a lifelong member, serving as a Trustee and Usher. He attended Christ Lutheran Grade School and Kramer High School in Columbus. Marvin worked for Behlen Manufacturing and Wilke Landscape Center prior to his marriage to Karen Behle on November 17, 1962, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus. Marvin was a dairy farmer and did custom baling. Marvin served on the Consumer Co-op Board, the Newman Grove Creamery Board, and for several years helped with the annual AAL Camp Luther Picnic and Auction. Marvin was an avid baseball player, enjoyed collecting toy tractors, playing cards, and spoiling his grandchildren. Marvin had a great sense of humor, always had a smile on his face, and was not shy about visiting with anyone.

Son - Michael (Michelle) Wurdeman of Columbus, NE
Son - Scott Wurdeman of Lincoln, NE
Daughter - Tena (Shane) Bennett of Carbondale, IL
Grandchildren - Nicole, Brittany, Ashley, Jordan, and Conner Wurdeman, and one new granddaughter expected to arrive in July, 2008
Brother - Willis (Dorothy) Wurdeman of Seattle, WA
Brother - Marlyn (Joan) Wurdeman of Columbus, NE
