Lester Wurdeman, 74, of Columbus, Nebraska died Tuesday, October 30, 2001 at
Columbus Community Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Saturday,
November 03, 2001 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Gil Karges officiating. Interment
will be at the Columbus Cemetery with military honors by American Legion
Hartman Post 84. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 03, 2001 at
Gass Haney Funeral Home from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
Lester G. Wurdeman was born on February 10, 1927 in Columbus, Nebraska to
Louis and Alma (Garms) Wurdeman. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School and
Kramer High School. Lester served in the US Army from May 5, 1945 to March
23, 1947.
He married Mary Lou Clark in 1949, she preceded him in death in
1953. Lester married Barbara Jean Allison on August 1, 1964, she preceded
him in death on February 26, 2001. Lester worked for Watson Bros.
Transportation Co. from 1950 to 1962, then for Bee Line Motor Freight from
1962 until he retired in 1985. Lester was a member of Immanuel Lutheran
Church and the American Legion.
Lester is survived by:
Daughter - Susan (Joel) Brethauer - Laguna Hills, CA
Step-daughter - Jean (Dan) Britt - Columbus, NE
Step-daughter - Carol Caley - Columbus, NE
Sister - Eleanor (Darrel) Baldwin - Columbus, NE
Sister - Lorene Sheridan - Ontario, CA
Brother - Edgar (Dorothy) Wurdeman - Lynn, MA
Brother - Robert (Charlotte) Wurdeman - Beach Park, IL
6 - Step-Grandchildren
10 - Step-great-grandchildren
Lester was preceded in death by:
Parents: Louis and Alma (Garms) Wurdeman
Wives: Mary Lou (Clark) Wurdeman and Barbara Jean (Allison) Wurdeman
