Allen A. "Doc" Runge, 75 of Columbus, Nebraska, entered Into rest Friday, June 1, 2007, at the Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus after battling cancer.
The funeral service will be Monday, June 4, 2:00 P.M. at the St. John's Lutheran Church, Shell Creek, with Rev. Peter Jark-Swain officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Hartman Post # 84 Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Monday from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M. at the church with a family prayer service at 1:45 P.M.
Allen A. "Doc" Runge was born April 1, 1932, in Columbus, Nebraska, to August and Adela (Siefken) Runge, Sr. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Church. He attended District 2 School in rural Platte County. Doc entered the U.S. Army on September 24, 1952, and served in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on August 25, 1954. Doc married Joyce Ann Ahrens at St. John's Church on June 29, 1957.
Doc was a truck driver for Habco Manufacturing and worked at Behlen Manufacturing. He sold Crow's seed corn for many years and was a lifelong farmer and cattle feeder north of Columbus. A family partnership was formed in 1991 with the purchase of Columbus Feed & Hatchery, where Doc enjoyed visiting with his customers.
Doc was a lifelong member of St. John's Church where he served on the church council and belonged to the Followers of Christ. He was a charter member of the Cattlemen's Association. Doc was a member of the American Legion, a lifetime member of the VFW, and enjoyed attending the annual Korean War Conventions. Before losing his vision, he enjoyed hunting, reading, and playing cards. He and Joyce spent some of their special times going for long drives in the country. In recent years, he enjoyed listening to local sporting events and the Cornhuskers. Throughout his life Doc always liked to spend time with his friends and family, especially his children and grandchildren.

Grandchildren: Cade, Brook, & Ashley

Brother: Arthur "Art" (Kay) Runge of Duncan, NE
