The funeral service will be on Wednesday, January 17, at 10:30 AM, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Shell Creek, with Rev. Peter Jark-Swain officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus, and continue on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 AM on Wednesday at the church. Memorials are family choice. Alice Adela Sander was born June 25, 1936, in Platte County, Nebraska, to August Sr. and Adela (Siefken) Runge. She was baptized on July 19, 1936, and confirmed on March 5, 1950, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Shell Creek. She attended Rural District No. 2 grade school and graduated from Columbus High School. Alice married Dennis Sander on June 16, 1957, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Shell Creek. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, and as a youth, participated in the church choir, was a member of Luther League and 4-H. She also spent summers helping neighbors wives do the extra cooking during the thrashing season. Later, she worked for the Platte County A.S.C.S. office, Consumers Public Power District, the Election Office, and was an Avon Representative for 20 years. She was an active member of her church, Birthday Card Club and Lamplighters Extension Club. She enjoyed gardening, reading, spending time with her family and attending her grandchildrens' activities.
