      FREMONT -- Shirley Mae Jansen, 52, of Valley died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, at her home.

      Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Kountze Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church in Omaha with the Rev. Deanne Lundahl officiating. A prayer service is 3 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Bancroft with the Rev. Terry Daberkow officiating. A private family burial will be held at the Bancroft Cemetery.

      Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today and 10 a.m-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Reichmuth Funeral Home in Valley and one hour before the service at the church in Omaha Wednesday. Visitation will also be held one hour before the service at the Bancroft church.

      Mrs. Jansen was born Feb. 17, 1948, at West Point to Erwin John and Marcella Ida Mathilda (Tietz) Ruehling. She attended Zion Lutheran School in Bancroft and graduated from Bancroft High School as the valedictorian in 1966.

      After graduation from the Bishop Clarkson School of Nursing in Omaha in 1969, she was employed as a registered nurse at the Bishop Clarkson Hospital, the Fremont Area Medical Center and Valhaven Nursing Home in Valley.

      She married Keith Sander Jansen on Oct. 25, 1970, at Bancroft. They purchased and operated the Flowers by Gullotta in Omaha from 1979-90. In 1990, after purchasing the Valley Floral Co., they moved to Valley.

      She was a lifetime member of the Valley Community Historical Society and a member of the Western Douglas County Chamber of Commerce, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Nebraska Florists Society, a former 4-H leader at Valley and was recently named secretary of the Schmidt Family Reunion. She received the Magic Moment Award from the Valhaven Nursing Home for her volunteer work. She enjoyed cooking and sewing, and won Best of Show at the Douglas County Fair for her sewing.

      She was a member of the Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church, the Kountze Kouples, Circle 1, and had served on the Altar Society and as a greeter.

      Survivors include her husband; her parents of Bancroft; one son, Christopher (Rebecca) Jansen of Lincoln; one daughter, Susan (Dr. Kelly) Hinrichs of Valley; one brother, Dale (Bobbi) Ruehling of Schuyler; and her parents-in-law, DeForest and Luella Jansen of Creston.

      She was preceded in death by her grandparents; one sister, Marilyn Ann Reppert.

      Memorials are suggested to Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church Endowment Fund; Kountze Memorial Lutheran Television Ministry; Zion Lutheran Church, Bancroft; St. Mark's Lutheran Church Building Fund, Valley; or the Valley Rescue Squad.
