From THE COLUMBUS (NE.) TELEGRAM, January 19, 2006-
Marlene (Mrs. Ron) Cattau, 63 of Columbus, Nebraska died Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at Bryan LGH West in Lincoln, Nebraska.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, January 23, at 10:30 AM at Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus with the Rev. Michael Klatt and Rev. Ernest Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery at 2:00 PM in rural Columbus. Visitation will be on Sunday at 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Monday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service on Monday at 10:15 AM at the church. Memorials are the Lutheran Hour or donor's choice.
Marlene Cattau was born September 28, 1942 in Clintonville, Wisconsin to Erwin and Erna (Krohn) Rosenberg. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Martin Evangelical Lutheran Church in Clintonville. Marlene attended St. Martin Lutheran Grade School, graduated from Clintonville High School and Concordia College in St. Paul, Minnesota. She taught school at Fr. Dodge, Iowa, Christ Lutheran School in Norfolk, Nebraska and Christ Lutheran School in Columbus, Nebraska.
Marlene married Ron Cattau on August 21, 1965. in Clintonville. Marlene was choir director at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk and at Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus where she was a current member. She also directed the children's choir at Peace Lutheran for over 8 years. Marlene did volunteer work in the church office at Peace Lutheran for a number of years. She was a member of the 2nd Milers group at Peace Lutheran. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, and collecting Nativity sets.
